Harbor Tax Group are continuously working to improve the accessibility of content on our website. In order to increase the accessibility of our website to you, the user, we have engaged City Web Company to provide an as-available tool on our website allowing users the ability to adjust different elements of our website on demand, including reading text content out loud.
We use a combination of ongoing accessibility audits, manual checks, and an accessibility widget tool to help enhance the experience for visitors with a wide range of capabilities.
Our accessibility features include but are not limited to the following:
- An accessibility widget that enables users to adjust text size, contrast, color themes, screen-reader settings, and keyboard navigation.
- Videos on our site include closed captions and/or transcripts, where available, to assist users who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Images throughout the site include alternative text (alt-text) for screen readers and users who cannot view imagery.
- The site is built and maintained with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 (or later) Level AA as our target standard. W3C+2wcag.com+2
- We regularly review our site for known limitations and will update this statement when improvements are made.
Below, you will find a few recommendations to help make your browsing experience more accessible.
If you have trouble seeing web pages, the US Social Security Administration offers the following tips for optimizing your computer and browser in order to improve your online experience:
- Use your computer to read web pages out loud
- Use the keyboard to navigate screens
- Increase text size
- Magnify your screen
- Change background and text colors
- Make your mouse pointer more visible
If you are looking for mouse and keyboard alternatives, speech recognition software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking may help you navigate web pages and online services. This software allows the user to move focus around a web page or application screen through voice controls.
If you are deaf or have difficulty hearing, there are several accessibility features available to you.
Closed Captioning
Closed Captioning provides a transcript for the audio track of a video presentation that is synchronized with the video and audio tracks. Captions are generally visually displayed over the video, which benefits people who are deaf and hard of hearing, as well as anyone who cannot hear the audio due to noisy environments. Most of the videos on our website include closed captions. However, some of our video content is provided by third-parties who may not make captions available.
Volume Controls
Your computer, tablet, or mobile device has volume control features. Each video and audio service has its own additional volume controls. Try adjusting both your device’s volume controls and your media players’ volume controls to optimize your listening experience.
Known Limitations
While we endeavor to achieve full accessibility, there may be some areas of the website that do not yet fully meet all aspects of the standards. If you encounter any difficulty accessing content or using any feature of our website, please let us know. Provide specific information (for example, the web page URL and the nature of the accessibility issue), and we will make reasonable efforts to address it.
